Whom We Serve

  • Attendance is open to children whose parents or guardians have or have had cancer.

  • Camp Kaleidoscope serves children between the ages of 5 and 18.

  • We do not serve siblings and grandchildren of cancer patients. For a list of camps for children affected by a sibling’s cancer, please visit this resource.

  • Camp Kaleidoscope is not a camp for children who have cancer. For a list of camps for child oncology camps, visit this resource.

Camp Logistics

  • Camp Kaleidoscope will be a week-long summer camp from June 16-21, 2025

  • Our camp (as well as all other year-round programs offered by Kaleidoscope) are completely free of charge.

  • Our 2025 campsite is conveniently located within about one-hour from Stanford’s campus. Buses will transport campers and counselors to and from the Stanford campus.

Camp Safety

  • Camp Kaleidoscope is staffed by undergraduate student leaders. Our counselors undergo a rigorous application and interview process. Once accepted, counselors receive comprehensive training to ensure the safety of children and create a fun, lighthearted environment.

  • Camp will be staffed by licensed medical and mental health professionals, capable of distributing most medications and managing grief that occurs throughout the week of camp

  • Camp safety policies will be implemented and overseen by our full-time Executive Director. Camp Kaleidoscope’s Board of Directors, made up of camper parents, counselor alumni, and medical advisors, developed these policies in conjunction with legal counsel.

  • Camp counselors are adults, who have undergone a rigorous application, interview, and background check process. For more information on our application, vetting, and background process and policies, please contact director@campkaleidoscope.org.

Medical Attention at Camp

  • Medical Professionals, including Registered Nurses, Medical Doctors, and/or Emergency Medical Technicians will be on site at all times, prepared to distribute medications and attend to acute medical injuries and illness.

  • Our counselors do not provide therapy. At camp, our student leaders create a welcoming atmosphere where children feel safe and supported, giving them the freedom to share their feelings with each other and with counselors if they choose.

Camp Kaleidoscope Community

  • Once a camper attends Camp Kaleidoscope, they are part of our community forever and can return each year.

Camper Application

  • To apply, please refer to our application page for more information.

  • Children with special circumstances are considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at contact@campkaleidoscope.org.

Talking about cancer at camp

  • Camp Kaleidoscope provides the space for campers to talk about their parent’s cancer journey through activities like Cabin Chats and Roots, but doing so is by no means required.
